This kits converts your C3 vacuum headlights over to an electrically actuated linkage. The conversion is available as a complete kit, no parts to search for, no research necessary on how to implement, nothing else to buy.
The kit includes the linkage assembly, splash resistant actuator, mounting brackets, adjustment links, a sealed relay, grade 8 mounting hardware, vacuum plugs, wire, wire terminals, screws, cotter pins and detailed installation instructions.
Cost is roughly half that of other actuator based options and the system operates smoother and more reliably than the stock vacuum system.
Linkage parts mount using original holes and require no cutting of stock parts. Linkage brackets mount into the existing bolt holes of the vacuum canisters, actuator brackets mount with existing bumper bolts. Bearings in the linkage are stock Corvette headlight pivot bearings enabling future replacement using GM or GM Replacement parts. The design enables reversion back to stock vacuum if desired at some future date.
Consider the cost of parts to rebuild the vacuum headlight operation system is right around $300. When the rebuild is completed you still have the cantankerous and unreliable vacuum headlights. Conversion to “ElectraLink” Headlights provides smooth reliable headlight operation using top quality parts.
Kits for 1968-1974 Corvettes
Ari Ioannides –
My 8600 mile restomod 1978 Corvette features an LS3 with new CAM that and we worried we would not produce enough vacuum for the old headlamp doors to operate. With the original 350 the vacuum actuated doors worked perfectly, but we went for this kit just in case. With the engine out it was pretty easy to install. You should take the time to clean and lube the remaining parts of the headlights prior to installing the Electra-Link Conversion. Even then you may experience issues when the temp drops below 30. That is not an issue for me because I put the car away for the winter.
